A partnership between three South Carolina communities (York County, Lancaster County and the Town of Fort Mill) and the Carolina Thread Trail is advancing trail development between the State Line and Fort Mill, SC. Nine corridors are being evaluated to advance the Carolina Thread Trail Network in this area and to capitalize on the momentum of the connected greenway network that currently ends at the NC-SC state line.
Routes will prioritize use of existing greenway and utility easements, connectivity to destinations important to the community, and connections to other trails. Potential routes also traverse commercial properties and open space associated with homeowners associations and institutional uses. As part of the study, the project partners will identify and work with property owners willing to consider granting the necessary easements for the greenway.
Updates will be provided to this page as the study is developed. The study will be complete in late 2024.
